About Us

About the Center

Since 1968, the Elizabethton Senior Center has stood as a beloved cornerstone of our community. As a non-profit organization, we have dedicated ourselves to serving the seniors of Elizabethton and the surrounding area. Our journey began with a small group of seniors gathering in a house on our current property, and in 1981, thanks to the City of Elizabethton, we moved into a purpose-built facility. Ever since, we have remained steadfast in our commitment to provide a safe haven for seniors to socialize, access programs, and receive unparalleled support from the community.

Over the years, our services and activities have flourished, expanding to meet the evolving needs and desires of our senior population. Our fundamental goal is to foster a secure and inclusive environment, ensuring that every senior in Elizabethton and the surrounding area has a place to call their own. At the Elizabethton Senior Center, we offer much more than a physical space; we cultivate a vibrant community where seniors can forge new friendships, engage in enriching programs, and find solace and encouragement as they navigate the journey of aging.

With great pride, we stand as a trusted resource for seniors, providing not only a gathering place but also a wealth of programs and services. From invigorating fitness classes and enlightening educational workshops to creative art programs and delightful community outings, our offerings are thoughtfully designed to address the holistic well-being of our seniors.

As a non-profit organization, our unwavering commitment to our seniors is made possible through the incredible support of our community, the dedication of our volunteers, and the generosity of our donors. Together, we create a nurturing space where our cherished seniors can find care, companionship, and a profound sense of belonging.

The Elizabethton Senior Center represents more than just a building—it stands as a testament to the heart and soul of our community. It embodies our core values of compassion, respect, and an unwavering appreciation for the wisdom and contributions of our aging population. As we journey forward, let us continue building a brighter future where our seniors can truly thrive and experience the fulfillment they so richly deserve.

Community Partnerships

At the Elizabethton Senior Center, we believe in the power of community collaboration to fulfill our mission. That's why we forge partnerships with local community agencies, working hand in hand to serve our seniors with excellence.

Step into our center, and you'll find a dedicated on-site coordinator from the esteemed First Tennessee Human Resource Agency (FTHRA). Their presence ensures a seamless experience for seniors seeking enrollment and delivery assistance for the invaluable Meals on Wheels program. FTHRA also brings the nourishment directly to our center, providing daily lunch options that can be enjoyed either on-site or conveniently taken to-go.

In our commitment to cater to the needs of our more vulnerable seniors, we are proud to house an Options Coordinator from the esteemed First Tennessee Area Agency on Aging (FTAAD). This diligent professional conducts screenings and assessments, ensuring that our beloved seniors receive the personalized care and support they require, right in the comfort of their own homes.

As a non-profit agency, the Elizabethton Senior Center relies on the invaluable partnerships we have cultivated with local agencies, including the City of Elizabethton, Carter County, FTAAAD, and the esteemed United Way. Their generous funding helps us sustain our operations, enabling us to continue delivering exceptional services to our seniors. We are also grateful for the ongoing support we receive from our community through donations and the invaluable contributions of dedicated volunteers. It is these volunteers who play a vital role in our meal delivery, fundraising efforts, and the creation of memorable special events that bring joy and connection to our center throughout the year.

In the spirit of collaboration, we extend a warm invitation to other non-profit organizations and businesses who share our passion for uplifting seniors.
